Detailed Description
(Include Screen Shots if required )
Lockbox batch job should run and process lockbox files throught Christmas break. This is because batch job stops running on company holidays, and this is not correct. The bank will send us files through the Christmas break, and those files need to be processed.
Analysis and Recommendations
(Include Screen Shots if required)
1) Change the batch job schedule from workdays-only to everyday
- a. Explanation: This would ensure that no holidays would be left out. In the case of weekends and holidays, the same file from last workday would be used. This will not results in duplicates because SAP will not load the same file twice. We have an example for Veterans Day in NEP, where the bank didn’t send us a new file on 11/11/2011, and SAP processed the same file on 11/10/2011 and 11/11/2011 (because 11/11/2011 is not NEC holiday), and SAP simply just didn’t do anything. We also have test results in Q to confirm there is no negative impact for loading the same file multiple times.
- b. Pros: It will be a quick one-time change to the batch job and we don’t need to remember to manually schedule this job for other NEC holidays that were not bank holidays.
- c. Cons: Potentially impact to the performance of other weekend batch jobs. However this job normally finishes within 2 minutes so the impact should be minimum, if there is any.
- d. Effort: 10 minutes.
2) Manually schedule additional runs for each of the NEC holidays that are not bank holidays
- a. Pros: No change to the currently-scheduled batch jobs. It would be a one-time effort for the next 4 years.
- b. Cons: Someone has to remember to do so every year.
- c. Comment: we could create all the additional runs from now until 2015 (this is the furthest year we have factory calendar in SAP)
d. Effort: 30~45 minutes.
Resolution
The decision was taken to run the batch job everyday.
